Effective Date: January 3rd, 2025
This Privacy Policy applies to both the upname.com website (the “Website”) and the SelfieUp mobile application (the “Application”), collectively referred to as the “Services.” By using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of information as outlined below. If you do not agree with any portion of this Privacy Policy, please discontinue use of our Services.
1. Who we are
We are UpName (the “Service Provider”). Our Website address is: http://upname.com
For inquiries regarding this Privacy Policy or your personal data, please contact us at:
Email: privacy@upname.com
2. Information Collection and Use
We collect information from you in several ways when you interact with our Website and the Application. This includes information that you directly provide (e.g., comments, account registration) and information automatically collected (e.g., IP address, device information).
2.1 Website Comments
• When visitors leave comments on the Website, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to assist with spam detection.
• An anonymized string derived from your email address (a “hash”) may be shared with the Gravatar service to determine if you use it. Gravatar’s Privacy Policy can be found here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture becomes visible to the public in the context of your comment.
2.2 Media
If you upload images to the Website, please avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract location data from images on the Website.
2.3 Cookies (Website)
• If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies for convenience. These cookies last for one year.
• When you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
• Once you log in, we set additional cookies to save your login information and screen display preferences. Login cookies last two days; screen option cookies last one year. Selecting “Remember Me” extends login cookies for two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.
• Editing or publishing an article sets an additional cookie, which contains no personal data—only the post ID of the edited article. It expires after one day.
2.4 Embedded Content from Other Websites
• Articles on the Website may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images). This content behaves as if you visited the external website directly.
• These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, or monitor your interactions, especially if you are logged into those external sites.
3. Data Collection in the Mobile Application (SelfieUp)
When you use our Application, we may collect certain information automatically, including but not limited to:
• Your device’s Internet Protocol (IP) address.
• The operating system and version on your mobile device.
• The pages or screens in the Application that you visit, along with the time and date of those visits.
• The time spent on specific pages within the Application.
We do not collect precise location data from your mobile device. However, the Application may request access to your camera if you choose to use features that require it. Any personally identifiable information you provide will be handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
4. Third-Party Services and Sharing
4.1 Spam Detection
Visitor comments on the Website may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
4.2 Password Resets
If you request a password reset on the Website or Application, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
4.3 Third-Party Service Providers
The Application may use third-party services that collect information to identify you. These service providers include, but are not limited to:
• Google Play Services
• Google Analytics for Firebase
We may share aggregated, anonymized data with external analytics or service providers to help improve our Services. We may also disclose personal information if required by law or if we believe that such action is necessary to:
1. Comply with a legal obligation (e.g., subpoena).
2. Protect and defend our rights or property.
3. Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with our Services.
4. Protect the personal safety of users of our Services or the public.
5. Protect against legal liability.
5. Data Retention
1. Website Comments and App Comments
• If you leave a comment on our Website or within the Application, we retain the comment and associated metadata indefinitely. This enables us to recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically.
2. User Accounts
• If you register on our Website or create an account within our Application, we store the personal information provided in your user profile. You can view, edit, or delete your personal information at any time, except for your username, which cannot be changed.
3. Mobile Application Data
• We retain data collected through the Application for as long as you use the Application and for a reasonable period thereafter. If you would like us to delete your data, please contact us at privacy@upname.com.
6. What Rights You Have Over Your Data
• You have the right to request an exported file of any personal data we hold about you, including data you have provided.
• You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold. However, this does not include data we must keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
• You may opt out of data collection by uninstalling the Application or ceasing use of the Website.
7. Children’s Privacy
• We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13.
• If you are a parent or guardian aware that your child has provided personal information without your consent, please contact us at privacy@upname.com, and we will take prompt steps to remove that information from our servers.
8. Security
We take reasonable measures—physical, electronic, and procedural—to protect the information we collect and maintain. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page, and the Effective Date at the top will be updated accordingly. By continuing to use our Website or Application, you acknowledge and agree to the updated Privacy Policy.
